Hafnia Foundation is an independent contemporary art gallery established in 2018, working at the intersection of Nordic, European and East-Asian artistic practice.
The gallery operates as a sustained editorial project: long-form representation of a small roster, three principal exhibitions per year, and a slow, deliberate publishing programme that accompanies every exhibition cycle.
Founded in Aarhus following a decade of curatorial collaboration between the founders and the Stedelijk Museum, Hafnia Foundation opened its first space in a former corn silo refit by the studio of architect Lars Vinge.
Since then the gallery has staged thirty-two solo exhibitions, four institutional retrospectives and a continuous residency programme between Aarhus, Xiamen and Reykjavík.
We invest in patient, multi-year representation rather than the fair-driven turnover that defines much of the current market.
Every artist on the roster is given a permanent room within the gallery's curatorial archive — a slow accumulation of installation views, working notes, press, and printed matter that compounds in value over time, for the artist and the collector both.
